There are two ways to have your car inspected by the
Georgia Department of Revenue.

          1) You can mail or carry the necessary paperwork to the main title office for the state of
          Georgia located at 1200 Tradeport Boulevard, Hapeville,  Georgia,

          2) You can elect to take your vehicle to a privately-owned Inspection Station, like
                      the Douglas County Salvage Inspection Station operated by  Austin's Used Truck
               and Auto Parts.  Please follow the instructions below.

Salvage Vehicles built by a licensed rebuilder *
 in the State of Georgia (1986 and newer)

          * exceptions are owner retained salvage, assigned T-56 insurance form

  1. One or more pictures of the vehicle in its salvaged condition MUST be submitted.

  2. A completed MV-1 title application form. (Provided by the station during check in).

  3. The "SALVAGE" certificate of title in the rebuilder's name. (UP00**** number)

  4. A T-129 (Labor and Parts Certification) form completed, signed, and notarized.

  5. Submit bill(s) of sale made out to the rebuilder, listing each part used in repairing the vehicle. These bill(s) of sale must indicate whether the part was "new" or "used".  The stock number or part number must be shown along with the part name, if the part is "new".  If the part is "used", the serial number of the vehicle it was taken from must be shown.  Each part's bill of sale must be signed with the full signature of the seller.      

  6. A certified check or money order for $118.00 made payable to Georgia Department of Revenue. A certified check or money order for $75.00 made payable to Austin’s Used Trucks. A combined total of $193.00 can be paid in cash.

  7. Waiver Form completed. (provided by the station)

  8. Copy of a valid rebuilder number (UP00****).

Out of State Rebuilt Vehicle

    1.   The Rebuilt, Salvaged, or Reconstructed certificate of Title issued in your name  
           or properly assigned to you.
    2.   Completed MV-1 Title Application (provided at station)
    3.   T-22R (Request for Inspection of a Rebuilt Motor Vehicle) Form completed.
    4.   A certified check or money order for $118.00 made payable to Georgia Department of Revenue.
          A certified check or money order for $75.00  made payable to Austin’s Used Trucks.  
          A combined total of $193.00 can be paid in cash.
    5.   Wavier Form completed. (provided by the station)
    6.   Copy of valid Georgia Driver's License or Georgia ID.

 *** Rules of Inspections and Exceptions ***

     1.   Must be a licensed rebuilder in the state of Geogia with a license number
           beginning with UP-----.
     2.   A copy of your rebuilder license must be with each file/vehicle submitted.
     3.   Fees are:    $ 100.00 inspection fee
                              $   75.00 station fee
                              $   18.00 title transfer  -   total of $ 193.00
           A certified check or money order for $118.00 made payable to Georgia Department of Revenue.
           A certified check or money order for $75.00  made payable to Austin’s Used Trucks.
           A combined total of $193.00 can be paid in cash.            
     4.   re-inspection will be $ 175.00 each time.
     5.   Vehicles inspected after July 1, 2007  will be branded "rebuilt ".                
     6.   An individual can only have a vehicle inspected if:
               1. an owner retained salvage that was purchased back from an insurance
                   company and the Gerogia title has their name on the front as owner,(T-56).
               2. an out-of-state rebuild, reconstructed, salvaged, or recondition title properly assigned to you.
               3. a court order title from a magistrate judge sold with a bill of sale.    
     7.  You do not have to be a licensed rebuilder to build motorcycles.

The vehicle must pass an inspection by the Georgia Dept of Revenue inspection section before
 a new Certificate of Title or license plate will be issued.
The vehicle cannot be driven until
it passes the inspection
(except for out of state rebuilds with current tags and insurance).

After completing the inspection process, a Certificate of Title will be
mailed to you at the address you provided at the inspection station.
Salvage titles cannot be walked through Trade port's office.
